<p>Still two twinges of regret from missing out on two good opportunities on Cs; one was just over $10,000 in about 1997, one about $12,000 a few years later. In being a very nice blend of fast and formal the 2.3-16 is easily one of the best Benzes ever sold. But a few maybes: could be that it suffers by association with the (unfairly disparaged) 190E, could be that the rock-solid handling attitude isn't as marketable as the edgier M3, could be aftermarket promotion, could be image games, could be that it's all a mood thing and its time is still coming.</p>
<p>Plus it's a complex minibeast with a rep for being painfully expensive to maintain (see also: 944). E30s are simplistic.</p>
<p>Kind of an underappreciated gem right now.
